C'mon now Alton, Miller Lite?

The man who has for years chastised us for things like eating fast food and who so recently had an entire episode about using peppercorns is working with Miller Lite. I feel sold out. Now I'm not a beer snob, but Alton's integrity has just dropped a notch in my opinion for the simple fact that this is the type of product that he would normally rant about. I can't imagine a grocery store scene on Good Eats of Mr. Brown telling Chuck to put down the awful microbrew and grab a case of Miller Lite.

My question is why? Does he think it will really get 'manly men' to cook? Is he trying to expand his audience? Was it just the money? Is this the Food Network's doing? Couldn't he at least have gone with MGD instead of the 'lite?'

The Ultimate Blender - Blendtec

The other day I was introduced to the Blendtec Blender through what I think is one of the best marketing methods: destroying stuff. These aren't your typical kitchen gadgets, they can take down anything from a Coke can to ballpoint pens and turn them into a goat's dream of a smoothie! Here's a link to the Will It Blend videos! You can even suggest items to be blended! They will also be making an appearance on the Today Show on Monday 11/20 and I'm sure many shows will follow afterwards!

Major Pepper

Who could combine a bit of history, a hardware review, a botanical lesson, and four recipes into a single half hour show and top it off with a Beatles theme to boot? Why Alton Brown of course!

I would rate this as one of his more creative shows; especially since he was able to pack so much in there. I guess that's what makes Good Eats such a successful show and keeps me coming back for more every week.

Aside from all the extra content in the show, there were four recipes from the themed ingredient:
Peppered Vodka
Slow Cooker Peppered Pork Chops
Black Pepper Mango Sorbet
Four-Pepper Deviled Eggs

Now I probably won't try the vodka or sorbet, but I know the pork chops and deviled eggs will be on my table soon. I may just start with a single pepper variety for my eggs and then work from there to adjust to my taste. And as for the Beatles, I'll have some tunes playing on my iPod while I'm cooking!

New Recipe: Beer Battered Turkey Strips with Cranberry-Beer Dipping Sauce

Alton has posted an appetizer recipe for beer battered turkey breast strips and a dipping sauce on his site. Sounds like a winner and I'm sure there can be some variations; such as a Buffalo style version for game night! I wonder how a Cranberry-Beer-Hot sauce version would taste?

Fry Turkey Fry

I've always wanted to try making a fried turkey, but Alton's latest show has scared the heck out of me. I can just picture my house going up in flames as I dine on fried turkey!
However, I will overcome my fear and try this recipe sometime during the holiday season. I'm glad it only takes a mere thirty minutes as I live in the cold north and won't be enjoying a cold beverage while I wait; more like a hot cup of cocoa while bundled up!

I'd love to hear from anybody who tries to build his ladder/pulley system. Was it easy and how much did it cost?
