New Good Eats Monday: Live and Let Diet

Alton has a diet show coming up Monday.  Well, it's supposed to be about eating healthy to lose weight not dieting.  I hope he doesn't veer into the preachy mode on this one and keeps with his usual entertainment/infotainment Good Eats formula.  I still have faith in Alton Brown!

Anyhow, the recipes are already listed on Food Network's site:
Sardine toast, ginger almonds, and a fruit/soy smoothie.  Now there's an interesting meal plan :-)

I'm sure he won't be preachy about it. At the book signing he mentioned he doesn't like to be like that. No worries!

His show is GOOD Eats, not HEALTHY Eats. So as long as it tastes good, weight loss isn't a bad side effect.

I didn't have a chance to take note of his food group recommendations (3x weekly, daily, etc), were you able to DVR it? Thanks!!

I happen to agree with what AB spoke about on his show presenting how he lost his 50 lbs. I think that he looks healthy and appears to have the same energy level as before. The foods that he listed are nutrient dense, therefore they help stabalize blood sugar levels while satisfying hunger. Another thing I noticed is how portion control was emphasized, as was slow deliberate chewing, something us Americans tend to forget with our busy, on the go, stressful fast food lifestyles. Everything with moderation, and along with his once a week foods... you probably could substitute your favorite foods here.. I think what he is basically is saying is don't deprive yourself of everything that you love!!!!! MODERATION is key!!!! I also think he did make mention of lifting some weights....None the less if you have no self control, love junk food, and think that weightloss comes in bottles, then this is probably NOT a good eating plan for you. There is also lots of research out there that supports what AB is saying, so I would research for myself to get the answers rather than wait to see if he writes a book....
