Monday Poll and Getting Set to see Alton Brown in Person

Monday poll time!  Yeah, it's 9:30 at night; was a little busy painting and doing laundry today...

Of all the votes last week only 2 of you follow Iron Chef America for your exclusive Alton Brown fix.  The rest were split between both show and Good Eats exclusively.

On to this week's poll!  I finally have the opportunity to see Alton brown in person this week as he gives a lecture at Oakland University.  As an alumni, I scored a ticket for $5 and my toiddler gets in free.  This got me thinking about how much would I pay to see Alton?  Or even, how much would I pay for a meet and greet session.  While I mull this over I'll put the question to y'all in this week's poll.

How much would you pay to meet Alton Brown at one of his lectures/performances?

Win Alton Brown's New Good Eats Book!

Conde Nast Traveler magazine has a contest on their website centered around The Next Iron Chef series.  The grand prize is a trip to India, but more exciting is the daily prize: a copy of Alton Brown's new Good Eats book!  I'm not saying I wouldn't want to win a week long vacation...

You can enter daily at the Conde Nast website.  The contest ends Novermber 23rd.

Good luck!

Yet Another Alton Brown Monday Poll!

OK, so I didn't get a poll up last week and I haven't posted much.  Well, for one, there hasn't been a lot of Alton Brown news since the 10th Anniv. show.  Secondly, I've been busy as heck and my cable was having issues last week.  I'm trying to paint the main sections of my house, but toddlers are not condusive to helping with painting projects.  At least my cable line is fixed (there was water inside the line!).

Where did we leave off....oh yeah, 44% of you are Coke addicts!  Coca-Cola that is.  I imagined Pepsi would have been a close second, but we are AB fans after all and Alton is a Georgia boy.

On to this week's poll.  A basic one: where do you get your Alton Brown fix?  I'm definitely a Good Eats fan, but have only recently started watching Iron Chef America.  How about you?

Now if I can just finish painting the kitchen this week......

Good Eats Costume Designer: Amanda Kibler

The Food Network Magazine has a good article this month featuring the work of Amanda Kibler, costume designer for Good Eats.  She features some easy Halloween outfits for your kids; GE fans can have fun dressing their little ghouls as their favorite characters now :-)  The article is now available on the Food Network site.

Thanks to Marion Laney for the heads up on the web link.

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day everybody!  Or, if you're not in the US, have a gosh darn good day anyhow!

Just got back from our local Peach Festival.  There was definitely a little thinner crowd this year.  It was most notcable in the craft show area where about a third of the tent lots were empty.  I assume it's a sign of the economy, even though the Festival is cheap entertainment for the whole family.
