Win Alton Brown's New Good Eats Book!

Conde Nast Traveler magazine has a contest on their website centered around The Next Iron Chef series.  The grand prize is a trip to India, but more exciting is the daily prize: a copy of Alton Brown's new Good Eats book!  I'm not saying I wouldn't want to win a week long vacation...

You can enter daily at the Conde Nast website.  The contest ends Novermber 23rd.

Good luck!

Yet Another Alton Brown Monday Poll!

OK, so I didn't get a poll up last week and I haven't posted much.  Well, for one, there hasn't been a lot of Alton Brown news since the 10th Anniv. show.  Secondly, I've been busy as heck and my cable was having issues last week.  I'm trying to paint the main sections of my house, but toddlers are not condusive to helping with painting projects.  At least my cable line is fixed (there was water inside the line!).

Where did we leave off....oh yeah, 44% of you are Coke addicts!  Coca-Cola that is.  I imagined Pepsi would have been a close second, but we are AB fans after all and Alton is a Georgia boy.

On to this week's poll.  A basic one: where do you get your Alton Brown fix?  I'm definitely a Good Eats fan, but have only recently started watching Iron Chef America.  How about you?

Now if I can just finish painting the kitchen this week......

Next Iron Chef: Don't Mess with Alton Brown

Don't mess with Alton Brown!  He looks ready to kick some butt in this Next Iron Chef promo :-)

I've recently rediscovered Iron Chef myself.  After running across the original Japanese version during late night channel surfing, I decided to give Iron Chef America another go.  When ICA first launched I wasn't all that impressed.  It seemed a little too forced and not as exciting as the original.  Of course, anything was better than the failed William Shatner attempt!  So, I watched a few more recent episodes and have to say it has come a long way.  The Kitchen Stadium action is more fluid and Alton is on top of his game now.  I guess they all jsut needed a bit of practice to meld thigns together.  The same could be said for Good Eats.  If you watch an early episode you can really see how far Alton has come as a TV host.

Alton Brown Coming to Chicago in March

Alton Brown will be giving a one hour lecture on the science behind your favorite meal at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry March 15th. There will also be a book signing afterwards; too bad this is before the FOA2 book is published. Tickets are $40.

From the MSI website:
"Television personality and self-proclaimed "food explorer" Alton Brown will present a special lecture at the Museum of Science and Industry that addresses the basic connection between the foods we eat and the scientific principles that govern them. An audience Q & A and book signing will follow...

The one-hour lecture will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15 in the Museum’s auditorium, and a 30-minute Q & A will follow. Alton Brown will also meet and sign books (one per guest) for audience members until 2:30 p.m. Light snacks and beverages will be served during the book signing."
